Project Overview
We recently completed a full roof replacement in Lancaster after the existing concrete tiled roof had failed in multiple areas. The roof was showing clear signs of wear, with cracked and slipped tiles allowing water ingress and compromising the integrity of the structure.
After a full inspection, it was clear that a complete strip and re-roof was the most reliable long-term solution.
Work Carried Out
1️⃣ Full Strip Back to Rafters
We carefully removed all existing concrete tiles, battens, underlay and ridge materials, stripping the roof back to the original rafters. This allowed us to inspect the structure and ensure a solid foundation before rebuilding.
2️⃣ New Breather Membrane Installed
A high-performance roofing breather membrane was installed to provide improved ventilation and secondary weather protection.
3️⃣ New Treated Roof Battens
The roof was fully battened out in line with current UK roofing standards, ensuring correct gauge and spacing for the new tile system.
4️⃣ New Concrete Tile Installation
The property was re-loaded with new concrete roof tiles, professionally laid and securely nailed to withstand Lancashire weather conditions.
5️⃣ Continuous Dry Verge System
We installed a continuous dry verge system to both gable ends, providing a maintenance-free finish and enhanced protection against wind uplift.
6️⃣ Chimney Leadwork Replaced
All lead flashing around the chimney stack was removed and replaced to ensure a watertight seal and long-term durability.
7️⃣ Dry Ridge System Installed
New ridge tiles were installed using a dry ridge kit system, offering improved ventilation and a mechanically fixed, mortar-free solution.
8️⃣ Waste Removal & Site Clearance
All waste materials were safely removed via skips, and the site was left clean and tidy upon completion.
